Chromium Oxide Green

Vauquelin first obtained this pigment by roasting the mineral crocoite. In 1838 Pannetier obtained a slightly transparent dark green, known as viridian or emerald green, using a different procedure, and in 1859 the Guignet paint firm patented a process for manufacturing this stable and very strong green more cheaply.
