Vall d'Hebron, the Museu Nacional and DKV Seguros join forces in this project to bring art closer to the hospital. The three organizations agree on their vocation to carry out projects that help the welfare of society

The Boa Mistura collective will work on the access wall to the Hospital Maternoinfantil Vall d'Hebron from December 11 and the hospitalized children will participate too, as well as the winners of the DKV Fresh Art.

The mural will measure 19 meters long by 4.5 wide and will be inspired by the work Ramon Casas and Pere Romeu on a Tandem, by Ramon Casas, which belongs to the collection of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

This December, the Boa Mistura collective will decorate the Hospital Maternoinfantil Vall d'Hebron by painting a huge mural 19 meters long by 4 and a half wide in the entrance wall of the health center. This initiative will be the culmination of the second edition of the Fresh Art Kids contest of DKV, which this time has the collaboration of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) and Vall d'Hebron. This unique mural will be inspired by the work Ramon Casas and Pere Romeu on a Tandem, by Ramon Casas, which belongs to the museum's collection. The museum has made available to artists all their resources and artworks for the making of this mural. The artists will count with the collaboration of hospitalized children in Vall d'Hebron, and hospital, DKV and the National Museum’s staff, as well as the two winners of the 2017 edition of the DKV Fresh Art contest in the graffiti category.

The final phase of the project, during which all the artists will capture the creation on the entrance wall of the Maternoinfantil of Vall d'Hebron, will take place during the week of 11 to 15 December. Previously, the Boa Mistura and the National Museum will hold a workshop with the children in order to study the painting of Ramon Casas and define the definitive creation, which will remain permanently as an element of the hospital.

For the collective Boa Mistura this will be the second time they participate in a project of these characteristics. This team of multidisciplinary artists with roots in graffiti that was born at the end of 2001, already participated last year in the previous edition of the program. Their works, developed mainly in the public space with the aim of transforming the street and creating links between people, are found in many places around the world.

Specifically, this action belongs to the Artery program of DKV, which encompasses several projects that use art as a communication tool with the aim of improving people's health and quality of life. Arteria also works on the humanization of hospital spaces, with the aim of improving the experience of patients and companions. The first edition of Fresh Art Kids, held last year, was a great success, with more than 2,500 children participating, and culminated with the great mural that decorates the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid. This contest was born with the intention of promoting the creativity and innovation of children and adolescents through art.

For the Museu Nacional, universal accessibility is a challenge. With this project, the museum seeks to facilitate the inclusion and participation of all citizens, both within the museum and outside. To achieve this universal accessibility, the museum cannot work alone and therefore establishes alliances with other organizations. The realization of the mural painting in the Hospital of the Vall d’Hebron, with the collaboration of the DKV company, is an example of a new model of partnership with companies that goes beyond mere sponsorship.

Vall d'Hebron places the patient at the center of their activity, in health care and also treatment during their stay in the hospital. Thanks to the work of the professionals and the collaboration with organizations such as DKV and the Museu Nacional, we can make the relationship with the patient more human, close and pleasant. This project is in line with the humanization of Vall d'Hebron and the social responsibility of the hospital. It is a commitment to improving the quality of life of patients and their families.
