More than 200 watercolours are participating in the international project “The Watercolour World”, a world database of watercolours, dated between 1750 and 1900, forerunners of photography.

Its goal is to create the world's largest online pre-photographic collection. Therefore, they aim to gather images of watercolours in digital format and disseminate them from a geographically indexed  format and thus obtaining an overview of the world before photography.

The project is funded by the Marandi Foundation, a non-profit organization run by the entrepreneurs and philanthropists Javad and Narmina Marandi with the participation of the world's leading collections of watercolours from museums, archives, libraries and individuals collections.
