Art scores goals, too
Art scores goals, too
adidas and Lionel Messi have donated the original shoes with which the Argentinian star broke the world record for goals made with a single football club: 644 goals with the Futbol Club Barcelona.
These boots will score one more goal: they will help children with oncological diseases or other serious illnesses, as well as their families.
The Museu Nacional will auction them off and will dedicate the proceeds to the Arts and Health program, a pioneer initiative that the Museum has been part of since 2018, together with the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and the Catalan Health Institute. Through various projects, the program uses art as a therapy and prevention tool to help improve the physical and mental health of the population as a whole.
The Arts and Health programme is part of the work that the Museu Nacional carries out to break down barriers - social, economic, knowledge, etc.- and to reinforce its social dimension by becoming a space for all the minorities that make up the social reality.
If the first edition of the programme made it possible to work with women from diverse cultural backgrounds (immigrants or refugees) who have post-traumatic stress disorder and who suffer situations of social vulnerability, this year the programme will be dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children with oncological diseases or other serious pathologies and their families, especially during their stay in hospital.
