Visit to the Joaquim Folch i Torres Library to learn about some of the books that were part of Alexandre de Riquer’s private library. Before, you can visit the exhibition William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement in Great Britain for free.
British artists exerted a notable influence on the work of Riquer, which combined Aubrey Beardsley's Japonism with the gothicism of William Morris, whom he met during his stay in 1894 in the British capital and which meant a change in his creations from this trip on.
You will know first-hand some of the copies that were part of Riquer's library: books illustrated by prominent British illustrators (Aubrey Beardsley, Robert Anning Bell, Arthur Rackham or Alice B. Woodward), works on exlibris, magazines (like Luz: periódico quincenal de arte moderno, Jugend, Pan, The Studio or Ver Sacrum) or other compilations.
