The Museu Nacional celebrates International Women's Day with multiple activities all along March. Leyendo Lorca (Reading Lorca) is a personal and intimate tribute by the actress Irene Escolar, who direct and interpretate a poetic drama about Lorca's women, universal and atemporary, reliving through words and gestures.

Federico García Lorca was one of the best authors to explore the woman's figure, their longing and their role in society at the beginning of the 20th century. His feminine characters are visceral, empowered and rebels, they dare prejudices and social conventions that we are still questioned about today.

Irene Escolar, Best Revelation Actress winner at the Goya Awards in 2016, is one of the most outstanding actresses in the national theater. To direct her interpretation, Escolar has taken inspiration from the dramatic love thread and women, both present in the writer's creation. For her, Lorca's women have enormous strength, they are not dependent, they are women with voice and soul who fight for what they aim.
