Description:

We put on the table this new proposal from the cycle For the Love of the Arts, in which painting, theatre, dance, architecture, music, design, literature and opera are once again the protagonists. We would like to be able to affirm that this sixth season, which relates cinema to other artistic disciplines.

The rules of the game of cinematographic correspondence, with the presence of experts in the subjects, do not vary in relation to previous years and we hope that the socio-sanitary conditions allow us to respect the planned schedules in the different fields.

The museum collaborates with the screenings of:

  • Tuesday 26 October 2021: Francophony (Aleksandr Sokurov, 2015. 88'). After his approach to the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg in The Russian Ark, Sokurov travels to another of the most visited museums in the world, the Louvre in Paris, to explore the preservation activities of its works under the Nazi occupation. The film dialogues with the exhibition Museum in danger! Safeguarding and organisation of Catalan art during the Civil War. Presentation by the curators of the exhibition.
  • Tuesday 15 February 2022: Antoni Gaudí, una visión inacabada (John Alaimo, 1974, 44'). Within the framework of the major exhibition on Antoni Gaudí, we bring back this film shot by the North American John Alaimo in 1974 and unpublished until 2009. Starring José Luis López Vásquez and music by the maestro Joan Pineda. Presentation by Juan José Lahuerta, curator of the exhibition.
  • Tuesday 3 May 2022: CINEMA AND PAINTING. Screening of Miren el rostro (Pavel Kogan,1966, 10'), Georges de la Tour (Alain Cavalier, 1999, 26'), Magritte ou la leçon des choses (Luc de Heusch, 1960, 40') and, Jackson Pollock 51 (Hans Namuth, 1951, 11'). This session traces the historical interest of cinema in painting and the different ways in which filmmakers have approached it: from the recording of the creative process to the most personal and reflective essay. Presentation by Alex Mitrani.
