Print
2008 - M. Castiñeiras and J. Camps, in collaboration with J. Duran-Porta
Description:

A book that presents a broad, up-to-date view of one of the most outstanding periods of Catalan art through the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya’s splendid collection, featuring the exceptional ensembles of mural paintings, but also a magnificent series of paintings on wood, sculptures on wood and in stone, and sumptuary art objects. Through some of its masterpieces, like the paintings from the apse of Sant Climent in Taüll, the Avià Frontal or the Batlló Majesty, it proposes at the same time a look at Catalan Romanesque art brought up to date with the results of the latest contributions of the research done, mainly, in the Museum itself. It furthermore includes sections looking at the general context of Romanesque art, the history of the collections, above all the fascinating adventure of mural painting, as well as the interest that the Romanesque style aroused in the artists of the 20th-century avant-garde, evidence of its topicality.
