These paintings come from the southern apsidiole of the church of Sant Quirze de Pedret, a group now distributed between the Museu de Solsona (central apse) and the MNAC (apsidioles). They consist of a relatively homogeneous group of paintings dating from around 1100 which show stylistic links to Italy and are characterised by signs of early illusionism and abundant elements of Byzantine iconography. On the vault is a bust of the Virgin and Child, while the parable of the wise and foolish virgins (Matthew 25: 1-13) appears on the wall, the former seated at the table at Christ's side and the latter standing outside. This is a reference to the Day of Judgement, as only those who are prepared will be able to enter the house of the Lord.
