The Museu Nacional presents the work Dins per Dins (Inside In) by Francesca Llopis, (extended until March 20, 2022) an intervention consisting of a video with music by Barbara Held, and a set of photographs, taken by the artist at the Casa Gomis Bertrand, known as La Ricarda, located in El Prat de Llobregat. The house was designed by the architect Antoni Bonet Castellana between 1953 and 1963 and is one of the jewels of Catalan rationalist architecture of the second half of the 20th century. In Francesca Llopis' video, a series of "performers" dressed in black establish a moving dialogue with the architecture of the house, sometimes mysterious, sometimes humorous, and always poetic.
In this project, Barbara Held explores the sound architecture of La Ricarda as a listening space. The creators of the house used the latest technology of the moment for critical and scientific listening to the experimental music of their time and the sounds of the environment of the nature reserve that surrounds the house - currently threatened by the Barcelona airport.
In the sound performance DINS PER DALT, we invite biologist and recordist Eloïsa Matheu to talk about her practice. La Ricarda and its natural environment in the Llobregat delta are the focal point of a sound story about the migration of birds, an extraordinary journey between the lands of northern Europe and northern Africa, articulated with field recordings by Eloïsa Matheu. The sounds of nature describe and reflect both the ecosystems and the problems that birds face during their long and dangerous journey. Barbara Held will perform her piece “Pausa: Night”, composed for an open-air concert at the end of the summer of 2021 at the Museu Vostell, Malpartida de Cáceres. The piece used fragments of field recordings by Eloisa Matheu to connect with the very special geographical location of the museum.
