International Museum Day has been celebrated every May 18 since 1977. Organized by the ICOM, with the aim of raising public awareness of the role of museums in society, every year on this day the museum organizes an open doors day. Given the current circumstances, this 18th May 18 the celebration will be virtual. 

PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES

For everyone:

- Guided visit to the Museum, live (YouTube live)

On Monday 18th May at 7.15 pm, a museum educator will offer you a virtual 30-minute guided tour of the room of Sant Climent de Taüll on the Patrimoni Gencat Youtube channel.

- Open windows online

Would you like to travel to nineteenth-century Morocco with one of the museum’s most iconic works? Don't miss the open doors online at the Battle of Tetouan by Fortuny to visit and get to know this painting better.

This video and those from other museums will be available on the Patrimoni Gencat Youtube channel from Saturday 16 May at 11 am.

For families:

- Short stories, major women

A story dedicated to the photographer Colita, considered one of the best portrait painters, specializing in capturing images of Catalan artists and singers of the Nova Cançó.

Day and time: May 23, from 12 noon.

The story will be posted on an open YouTube channel for the occasion, along with other stories dedicated to "Short Stories, Major Women" and on the channel of YouTube of the museum

- Read and paint as a family

Resources to return to traditional tales, learn about illustrations by artists and discover the fantastic animals in the museum’s collection.
