Description:

Gothic Majorca. Catalogue to accompany the exhibit at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya of seventy medieval pieces representing Majorcan Gothic art in the areas of painting, sculpture, silverwork and furniture-making. This volume offers a series of introductory studies meant to illustrate the importance of Majorca as a Mediterranean center for the interchange of different artistic forms during the 14th and 15th centuries, when Gothic art was at its height. Following a careful chronology of historical and cultural events of this period we find an detailed catalogue of the works exhibited, with technical data and explanations organized into three sections: 'Painting', 'Sculpture' and 'Decorative Arts'. The catalogue concludes with an extensive bibliography on this subject.
