Description:

Proceedings of the congress: The Jewel in Art and Art in Jewell, that took place on 17th and 18th November in the museum’s Dome Hall. Entitled “Jewels in Art and Art in Jewels”, it set out to analyse jewels in a dialogue with the different arts and artists, from the Middle Ages to the modern era, in an international context and in parallel to the collections of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya. It had four thematic axes (Art jewels and Artist’s jewels; Changing fortunes and jewellery collecting; Jewels as a synthesis of the arts; and The symbolism of jewels), and made it possible to analyse the different points of view (historical-artistic, philosophical, anthropological, ethnographic, technical, economic and commercial).

These proceedings are a compilation of the work of researchers who, moved by the rigour and the passion of sharing their research work from different areas of knowledge, submitted their paper to the Congress, articulating an interdisciplinary and transverse programme.
