Description:

On the Sputnik. This volume binds together a collection of photographs, documents and objects recovered by the Sputnik Foundation, thus allowing a complete reconstruction of the inspiring but tragic odyssey of the Soyuz 2 spaceship, shot into space on October 25, 1968 with Coronel Ivan Istochnikov and the dog Kloka aboard. For still unknown reasons, the cosmonaut disappeared in the course of a mission in which he was to attempt a hook-up with the twin ship Soyuz 3. The maneuver was aborted and the spaceship was retrieved later, but without its crew member. The official version was that Soyuz 2 carried no crew. Now the Sputnik Foundation, with its work in recovering these photographs and documents, is able to correct history and tell the true story of that epic event.
