Foreshadowing MNAC. A representative selection of the MNAC collections from Romanesque to 20th century art shown to the public in 1992 along with a presentation of the working philosophy behind the institution, and the museological and museographical project that guided the museum in that period. Thus this volume gives us a sampling of the Romanesque art collection that nourishes the MNAC, and then takes us on a stroll through the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque collections and winds up the tour with 19th and 20th art. The MNAC's collections of drawings, engravings and coins merit separate chapters. The volume concludes with a carefully selected bibliography, and an index of artists, which includes each and every one of the catalogued works. These works, in the course of the book, have been studied rigorously.
