Vanity Fair (An Altar without a Hero)
Vanity Fair (An Altar without a Hero)
A contemporary altarpiece by Gino Rubert
The painter has worked on the postmodern altarpiece Vanity Fair (An Altar without a Hero) based on Gothic codes but with characters from the immediate cultural environment. At the end of June, this immense altarpiece in dialogue with its 14th century counterparts will be on display in room 24.
Gino Robert's latest paintings often depict collectors, gallery owners, etc., without any disciplinary, geographical or historical framework. In this altarpiece, the artist wanted to portray the world of painting in Catalonia in the year 2021 using photographs from the internet or sent by the protagonists themselves.
The artists represented range from leading figures such as Picasso and Miró to promising young artists and representatives of the cultural world.
