Unit of the Spanish monetary system established in 1868. Apparently, this name has a Catalan origin and, in the 18th century, it referred to the silver 2 real pieces. In the course of the Peninsular War and during the First Carlist War, the Barcelona mint made silver pieces with this name and value.
