Pere Daura 1896-1976. Pintures, dibuixos i gravats

Pere Daura (1896-1976). Paintings, drawings and engravings. Catalogue corresponding to the exhibition organized by the MNAC on the occasion of Martha Daura's donation to the museum of part of her father's work, the artist Pere Daura (1896-1976). The goal of this catalogue is to allow the reader to explore in depth Daura's artistic career from 1911 to 1939, at which point he moved to America, where he combined his usual artistic activity with teaching art. In this early period in Daura's painting he gradually discovers his own language, which, although within the figurative style of the epoch, responds to the influence of Joaquim Torres-Garcia in experiments with abstraction in the avant-garde line. We also discover his facet as draughtsman with a set of drawings done early on in Barcelona and in a series of engravings devoted to the Spanish Civil War. Finally, the translations of the texts into Spanish, English and French along with a brief bibliographical selection.
