Modernista Painting -- The Cercle del Liceu Collection. The fire that destroyed the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house in 1994 did not damage the magnificent painting collection belonging to the Liceu Circle, housed within the same building. After the fire, the Circle decided to put the collection on exhibit in the temporal exhibition halls of the MNAC's Museu d'Art Modern. This collection includes works by Joan Brull, Ricard Canals, Agapit Casas Abarca, Josep Cusachs, Manuel Cusí, Josep M. Marquès, Francesc Masriera, Lluís Masriera, Francesc Miralles, Josep Reynés, Santiago Rusiñol, Modest Urgell, with an exceptional sample of works by Ramon Casas. This catalogue, which includes a Spanish translation of the texts, is a product of the abovementioned collaboration between the two institutions.
