The Network of Art Museums of Catalonia publishes 16 new interviews with artists as part of the Veu i Memòria project to highlight their role within the framework of International Women's Day (8M).

In the context of International Women's Day, the Network of Art Museums of Catalonia presents 16 new interviews with artists as part of the Veu i Memòria project. These conversations bring the total number of available interviews to 32, with more in preparation, reaffirming the Network’s commitment to raising the visibility and recovering the memory of female creators in the artistic field.

Led by the National Museum, the Network continues to drive research on gender perspective topics and works to keep giving a voice to artists with the aim of incorporating them into the narratives of all the museums that are part of it.

The Veu i Memòria project adds new recordings, expanding this collection of oral testimonies that highlight the role and experiences of artists, with conversations delving into the oppression and lack of freedoms that shaped the trajectory of many of them, offering an intimate and necessary perspective on their contribution to art and culture.

With this initiative, the museums not only expand their collections with works by female artists but also enrich the museological discourse, promoting a more equitable and diverse representation of artistic heritage. The interviews can be accessed on the Network’s website, offering the public a unique opportunity to get to know the voices, as well as the museums that hold the works of these artists.

Mari Chordà, Marga Ximenez, Madola, Kima Guitart, Mariel Soria, Elisenda Capdevila, Mercè Modol, Xaro Castillo, Glòria Morera, Lluïsa Clols, Montserrat Costa, Antolina Vilaseca, Montse Clavé, Josefina Brunés, Tere Vila Matas, and Maria Assumpció Raventós are the voices added to the project this year, but they will not be the last.
