Implementation of the Re-Org methodology

Implementation of the Re-Org methodology

Date range:
15/03/2022

The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya is collaborating in the implementation of projects to implement the Re-Org methodology (reorganization of reserve spaces) in the museums of the four territorial networks of Catalonia.

Driven by ICCROM at the international level to optimize the quality criteria for museum reservations, these projects are promoted in Catalonia by the Museum Service and Protection of Movable Property and piloted by the CRBMC, both under the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat.

In a first phase, 4 pilot museums have been selected, one for each network, after conducting an action course at the Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer in Vilanova i la Geltrú (December 2020) to publicize the Re-Org methodology and to train the staff of these networks. Implementation has begun at the following pilot centers: Museu-Arxiu Tomàs Balvey in Cardedeu, Museu de la Pesca in Palamós, Museu de Solsona. Diocesà i Comarcal and Museu de Reus.

The Museu de Reus is in the planning phase of optimizing its reservation spaces. The second follow-up visit to the needs of the collections is scheduled for March 4, 2022, and fund movements will intensify during the week of March 14-18.

The reserve space of the Muntaner house of the Museu de la Pesca in Palamós is projected to be a visitable reserve that will explain the constitution of those museum collections that are not related to the sea. The second follow-up visit is scheduled for March 16, 2022.
