Model Engagement, a new way of conceiving and managing the museums and cultural spaces
A project with the participation of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, the Fundació Tàpies, the companies Indissoluble and Mobile Media Content and the research centres EURECAT and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which is the leader. Engagement forms part of the Community RIS3CAT Media coordinated by EURECAT.
During the time of exceptional confinement, all museums and cultural centres have shown the need to keep up a link with their users, expanding their contents through various digital resources and thus highlighting the presence of their cultural centrality in society. This is precisely one of the goals of the Engagement project, which proposes a paradigm shift in the way that cultural spaces relate to their audiences. With Engagement we refer to the ‘commitment’ of the museum institutions with their audiences, understood to be active participants. It is a project that deploys the notion of an expanded museum, understood as a strategy based on singularizing and personifying the visitor experience, multiplying its storytelling and going beyond the spatial and temporal limits of the museum, creating an ecosystem of digital content at their disposal. The idea is to generate new mechanisms and instruments that favour the personalization of the experience of each user, depending on their interests, tastes, traditions or cultural backgrounds. The project proposes a paradigm shift in the way museums and other cultural spaces relate to their audiences and adapt to changing needs and new expectations.
The museum will be able to recommend tours of the spaces and the discovery of the contents that best suit the preferences of each user, as well as allowing additional content to be suggested. In this way, thanks to the flow of information generated between users and the museum, a real engagement is achieved, which creates a circular link of relationship, interaction and commitment.
This project has been co-financed by ACCIÓ.
