L'Esplendor de la pintura del Barroc
L'Esplendor de la pintura del Barroc

The premise of this exhibit was to render homage to all of the art collectors who, through their donations, contributed to the formation of the MNAC's Renaissance and Baroque section. The museum put on an exhibit bringing together fifty-six pieces by the foremost figures in European art and allowing the viewer to follow the evolution of the different styles of the 16th, 17th and 18th century. The articles featured in this catalogue, accompanied by photographs of the works on display, along with corresponding technical data, deal with various artistic periods such as Mannerism, Baroque or Rococo, as well as the genres emphasized and the techniques employed during these periods. Attention is also given to the periods of transition between one artistic current and another, and to the most outstanding artists during these epochs. At the end of the book, an extensive and carefully compiled bibliography and the Spanish, English and French translations of the texts that go to make up the catalogue.
