The Modern Art collection of the Museu Nacional has been recently enriched with the legacy of 14 works, between drawings and paintings, from the collection of Manuel Maria Bosch i Puig (Barcelona, 1947-Sant Feliu de Guíxols, 2015).

Formed by works by Francesc Gimeno, Lluïsa Vidal, Ramon Calsina, Antoni Clavé, Joan Hernández Pijuan, Joan Ponç, Ràfols Casamada, and Ernest Santasusagna, this legacy is a heterogenic set but of great interest for the museum’s collections. It has allowed to incorporate works of an artist like Joan Ponç, that until now was only represented thanks to private deposits and the MACBA. Other artists, such as Ramon Calsina, Antoni Clavé or Francesc Gimeno, sees their presence reinforced in the collection of the Museu Nacional.

From today three works from this legacy will be on view in the permanent Modern Art collection: The Pianist, an oil by Ramon Calsina, circa 1940-1960; Soldier, a drawing from the same author, also circa 1940-1960, and Composició (Composition), by Joan Ponç, from 1948.

Manuel Maria Bosch, that combined his interest for art with botanic and languages, gave his legacy to different public entities with cultural and social purposes.
