The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya has published a monograph conceived as a rigorous historical account of the circumstances that led to the painting’s commission as well as of its gestation process, its historical and artistic importance, its eventful existence, its critical reception and the exhibition organised by Dalí in 1962. The authors of the monograph are the curators of the exhibition, Jordi À. Carbonell and Francesc M. Quílez. The book also features a chapter in which historian Josep Sánchez provides us with an analysis of the African war.

The Battle of Tetuan by Fortuny is the first title in the Context collection, which the Museu d’Art Nacional de Catalunya will devote to an in-depth study of specific works in its collection.
