The panel painting by Pietro da Rimini and Taddeo Faddi, still medieval painters, starts the tour that passes through the Quattrocento and the  Cinquecento. The serenity of the Mother of God by Fra Angelico and the Nativity by Bernardino Butione show the evolution of Italian art until Tiziano, who marks its culmination in the rooms of the museum with the Mother of god with child and the Portrait of Antonio Anselmi.

We continue towards European Baroque: The presentation of the Christ Child in the Temple, by Ludovico Carracci, leading to the Virgin with child with Saint Elizabeth and Young Saint John, by Rubens. Sailboats by Ruysdael is testimony of the birth of Dutch landscape painting from the 17th century. The Santa Marina by Zurbarán and the study-portrait of Mariana of Austria, from the workshop of Velázquez, give presence to the paintings of the Spanish Golden Age.

In the 18th century the Venetians Tiepolo, Piazetta and Canaletto were the authors of the best productions from the city of the lagoon.  The Thyssen- Bornemisza family, however, also fixed on the intimacy of Amorosi and the social character of the Three beggars, by Giacomo Ceruti. Completing this review of six centuries of art is the not-to-be-missed space dedicated to the northern artists from the 16th century, with portraits and religious works by Cranach, Wertinger, Mielich and Apt.
