Halo

Luminous crown around the head of a person indicating his or her saintliness.  It can be of various shapes and have more or less ornamentation.  The crucifer halo, that is to say, the aureole with a cross inscribed inside, belongs to Christ.  Very often the characters from the Old Testament are represented with a polygonal halo, while those of the New Testament carry a circular one.  On occasions Judas is represented with a black halo.
