From Tuesday July 7th you can also visit the broad retrospective dedicated to this photojournalist, ahead of her time. The show is the first one devoted to Gerda Taro, and it can now be seen exceptionally in Barcelona, the only place in Spain it will be presented in.
Through photographs, books and magazines, we discover the work that Taro did, mostly, during the Spanish Civil War. Her photographs, widely reproduced in the French left-wing press, reveal to us a new view of the war: a more sensitive approach and an interest in capturing the more human face of the dramatic moment. Gerda Taro was killed while covering the Battle of Brunete, crushed by a tank.
With this exhibition, the aim is to highlight the figure of this photographer, the lover and professional associate of Robert Capa, with whom she established a close working relationship.
This show can also be visited until September 27th.
Gerda Taro has received important donations from the Alex Hillman Family Foundation, George and Bicky Kellner, the John and Annamaria Phillips Foundation and Cornell Capa, with the additional support of generous donations from businesses, foundations and private individuals.
Exhibition curated by the ICP in a joint production with the MNAC. With the collaboration of Agrolimen, El Periódico de Catalunya and Memorial Democràtic.<br />https://
