García/Olivares: Vignettes
García/Olivares: Vignettes
Strip cartoonists, a key word:
- Santiago García (Madrid, 1968), essayist, translator, scriptwriter of comic.
- Javier Olivares (Madrid, 1964), illustrator and author of comics.
Both of them, when they collaborate together, are strip cartoonists. For them the comic is not a work of two minds that work separately, it is a four-handed work. García and Olivares understand the comic as a teamwork, in which the borders between the scriptwriter and the draftsman fade away. Their joint work are an exchange of ideas with the objective of narrating stories in cartoons.
The project is a brief revision to the comics that they have created together, as a one mind that it exhales ideas, concepts, stories and a vision of the world. García and Olivares deal with literary myths, arts and artists from a unique perspective. Theirs cartoons from a personal universe, result of their worries. For them, the comic or the graphic novel have no borders.
