Català Pic was initiated into photography as assistant to the photographer Rafael Arañas in Barcelona. Later he opened his own studio in Valls, where he worked until his return to Barcelona in 1931. Influenced by the latest trends, he became one of the most important theorists of avant-garde photography. He published various articles, such as 'La nova visió fotogràfica' in 'Temps de Valls', 'Fotografia i publicitat' in the weekly 'Mirador' or 'La evolución fotográfica' in the magazine 'Ford'. He was a great experimenter in his creative work and used every resort to bring advertising to life through the application of photo-montage, photograms and superimposed images.
