ID Project
ID Project
From June 15 to September 4, the museum is presenting in the Sala Oval a photographic project by the artist Jordi Bernadó that proposes a series of portraits of characters seemingly unrelated to each other, united only by the dialogue with the camera and by the answer to a single question: What is your place in the world? Some of these characters are famous figures: authors, filmmakers, politicians, activists. They are all with their backs to the camera, standing, tiny and unrecognisable.
Based on the construction of a heterogeneous and fragmented map, the photographer explores human identity, that which supposedly makes us unique. This project tackles issues of great importance today, such as climate, biodiversity and human rights, which are at the same time central issues in the museum's work.
The portraits that form part of this project were carried out in the places chosen by the characters portrayed, and function as a repository of memories and stories. The artist works on the idea that "we all have a place in the world, a place to love, to miss, a place to return to." In this case, the significance of each setting is captured in the photograph, but not revealed. This is a secret between the protagonist and the artist. Like pieces of a puzzle, each image tells a unique story, the story of a character, a place, a photograph, but together they create a complete archive.
The works of ID Project are part of the Banco Sabadell Art Collection, which has been involved in the project since its inception to make it a reality.
