"Homeland", by Mabel Palacín, breaks an image into 1,000 fragments at the MNAC

The installation, which can be seen in the EducART room as part of the Loop Festival, explores the relationship we have with images and how they help us mediate reality. Homeland is an installation by Mabel Palacín that forms part of the Museu Nacional’s work with artists to establish a dialogue with the museum's collection, generating new interpretations and narratives. Within the Loop Festival, from 15th November, 2023 and until 24th January, 2024, this project that can be seen in the EducART Room and in virtual format. It sets in motion a process by which an image is divided into a thousand fragments and subsequently it is assembled in the form of a film that aims to reconstruct the lost relationship between all the parties. Her work deals with the centrality of images in the contemporary world and the relationship we maintain with them.

 

Homeland
