Date range:
16/03/2023On 21 March the exhibition El museu més gran opened, organized by Barcelona City Council’s Department for the Promotion of People and the Museu Marítim in Barcelona. This show revolves around the results of the project that last year brought museums closer to the people who use Social Clubs and Centres for Senior Citizens in Barcelona for the purpose of stimulating their participation and generating networks between them.
This show, which can be seen in the vestibule of the Museu Marítim until 11 April, presents the photographs that senior citizens have taken, seeking parallels and dialogue between the photographs of the museums and their everyday lives.
The project ‘El museu més gran’, an initiative of the Board of Museums and Accessibility and Barcelona City Council’s Department for the Promotion of People, wishes to encourage interest and artistic creation through images and photographs of museums, and to stimulate conversation and socialization among senior citizens with a cultural proposal.
A total of 15 museums have taken part in the series: the Sant Pau Modernista Complex; the National Art Museum of Catalonia; the Museum of the History of Catalonia; the Maritime Museum of Barcelona; the Frederic Marès Museum; the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia; the Joan Miró Foundation; the Tàpies Foundation; the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre; the Olympic Museum of Barcelona; the Museum of Design; the Suñol Foundation; the Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures; the Monastery of Pedralbes, and Arts Santa Mònica.
