من خوان، ما عرفناش والو // de juan no sabemos nada // no sabem res del joan
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., the museum will host the presentation of the artistic co-creation project between the artist teresa w ・:。.。:・゜゚・* and 4th-year secondary students from Institut Consell de Cent, within the framework of the Artistes EN RESiDÈNCiA program.
teresa w ・:。.。:・゜゚・* is a fairy and an artist. Her practice lies between experimental music and performance, with an interest in exploring the inaudible.
This piece, titled من خوان، ما عرفناش والو // de juan no sabemos nada // no sabem res del joan, has been co-created with 4th-year students from INS Consell de Cent during the 2025/2026 academic year and takes the form of an evolving sound installation. Rather than being conceived as a finished work, it is claimed as a draft, an experimental work in progress.
The project is based on an archive of the artist’s family letters linked to the Spanish Civil War, an intimate material placed in dialogue with the family stories collected by the students, who share experiences and memories of conflicts across different cultural contexts. In this way, the notion of conflict expands beyond its specific historical definition to become a transversal experience: wars, independence processes, forced migrations, and other forms of violence and displacement that become both sonic and narrative material.
The MNAC collection holds a large corpus of works from the Spanish Civil War and the postwar period—works that, if they were sounds, would be screams, crashes, and chilling silences. At the same time, the museum looks ahead to its 2029 expansion and aims to strengthen its role as a storytelling museum that hosts multiple voices and becomes a living, shared space. Through speculative fiction, these presences have intertwined with the voices of young people who, through their narratives, evoke both their family pasts and their desires and hopes for the future. The voices are thus woven like a warp that crosses time and space, connecting generations, experiences, and imaginaries.
During the afternoon of May 13, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the piece will be activated every hour on the hour.
