THE COLLECTION IN A BITE

One weekend a month, Amics visit the Museum’s galleries to taste the works in the collection, guided by our collaborators.

Led by members of IcMuC (a database dedicated to the cataloguing of artworks focusing on musical iconography).

These visits will bring us closer to the musical context and to the knowledge of the different musical instruments that artists have chosen to represent in their works throughout history.

Furthermore, this journey is an interesting proposal that allows us to see how this musical iconography shows us the change and possible evolution of musical instruments over time. In fact, thanks to the representation of musical elements in works of art from the past, we can deduce how music was understood. For all these reasons, musical iconography is an invaluable testimony when it comes to learning about the society and musical culture of any period.
