Inside the cycle “For the love of Art”

Painting and film bring together to give life to 13 Edward Hopper's paintings, and to explain the story of a fictitious actress, Shirley. An attractive, charismatic, and compromised woman in the context of the America of the 30s to 60s.

The screening forms part of the fourth edition of the cycle For the love of Art. Film and painting that deals with the relation between cinema and other arts. In this edition we put an emphasis on the reflection of the museum as institution and the mechanics themselves of creations of sense and value bound to the museums. Besides we are interested because of political dimension of characters and works. Surrealism, which was evoked in a tangential way in previous editions, now is the protagonist.
