Activity free of charge
Programme (pdf)
Interdisciplinary Conference organised to present the state of the art of the reign of Peter of Portugal and his patrimonial legacy. The celebration this year of the 550th anniversary of his death provides us with the opportunity to carry out an exercise of memory about this little-known monarch, by the general public, and the heritage that he left us with in a period of our history which was both passionate and convulsive.
Peter of Portugal, child of the royal household of Portugal and grandson of the last Count of Urgell, James the Unfortunate, is a character who spent a short but intense period during the history of Catalonia. After having lived in the court of Portugal as son of the Regent of the Kingdom and having been Constable of Portugal and Grand Master of the Order of Aviz, he was an illustrious exile in Castella and a knight who was fond of writing who wrote various literary works of quality. Finally, right in the middle of the civil war of the Catalan institutions against Joan II, he was chosen King with the name of Peter IV (1464-1466).
Course recognised by the Departament d’Ensenyament of the Generalitat de Catalunya as an activity of ongoing training aimed at teachers.
With the collaboration of the S.E. Catedral Metropolitana de Barcelona
