Description:

The fight against women’s discrimination in the field of artistic and intellectual creation and production is part of the lines of the museum’s social involvement as a public institution with a Social Responsibility certificate.

That’s why, in this day, every year the museum organizes activities that combine fight and pleasure:

  • Cova – un ritual, opera performance by the company Cia. Humus Sapiens. Anna Gomà performs a recompilation of Arias that were censured at one point in history because they talked about feelings, love, sensuality and all that’s forbidden. The show combines a plastic element, where the body paint evokes the mark of all the experiences on the skin, with music, dance and the emotional nakedness. The Arias are played in different languages with the will to make the feelings the main focus. [Show for adults.]
  • Opened doors thorough the museum for women all day long.

You can also see some of the works of women artists that the museum has preserved in this virtual itinerary: ten women of different times, different styles and different origins that, before anything else, were artists.

Or you could take a look at the itinerary The Evolution of Woman so you can see how the social context influenced the art world at the end of the 19th century and beginnings of the 20th and the transformations in fashion and style during the art nouveau and the art déco eras. Not in vain, art and fashion have been the main reflection of the social reality and the representation of the most important changes that society has lived through at certain times, and the museum’s collections echo that fact.
