Watermark

A design or pattern that serves as the identifying mark of a paper manufacturer or, at different times, to indicate paper quality. The impression made by the metal wire in the form or sieve used to roll the paper is visible when the paper is held up to the light. It is also a transparent sign or mark on the paper, made at the time of its manufacture, which can only be seen against the light.
