Repair
Repair
Svantje Busshoff
The textile objects from the domestic environment that are shown in this space, damaged by use or time, have been mended using techniques such as darning, embroidery or crochet. Here, the repairs are not concealed; they are emphasized, sometimes even with gold thread, to give dignity to the injury and remind us it is there.
With her subtle interventions, Svantje Busshoff (Neustadt in Holstein, Germany, 1972) invites us to pay attention to everything that goes unnoticed or that may seem insignificant. The artist’s intention is not to return the objects to their original state, but rather to free them from their uses and to celebrate their accidents.
Topics such as repair and destruction are also part of the creation process that Svantje Busshoff is using with a group of students and teachers from the Vall d’Hebron Secondary School within the framework of the program iN RESiDENCE. Artists at the Schools of Barcelona. This process and the resulting works of art will also be on display at the Museum starting in May, as a sort of epilogue to this exhibition.
