Description:

In a big “copying” performance, in front of the movie “Maestà, la Passion du Christ” (2015) by Andy Guérif, the museum gathers together students, artist friends and cinema fans to the Sala Oval. An evening for cinema, drawing and the artistic practice, to the contamination of languages, and to break the barriers between the viewer and the artist, inside the framework of the cycle For the Love of the Arts.

Guérif recreates in his film a tableau vivant, breaking the codes of action of traditional films and getting closer to the representation systems of the Medieval religious art. An adaptation in 26 planes of the masterpiece by Duccio di Bonisegna, that ends up as a reality in front of our eyes after being chopped in living altarpieces. From the projection of the film, an exercise of “copying” is proposed with the students and friends of the Facultat de Belles Arts de la Universitat de Barcelona. It’s a question of deconstructing the artistic practice known as “copying”, and reintroduce in the museum the idea of recreation and acknowledgment of art through masterpieces.
