A researcher and curator’s job, and their efforts to recover the collective memory is the starting point of the cycle of conferences Art i història als museus de Barcelona. The conferences are focused on the valuable legacy of museums and the work and will of this specialists to recover the material and cultural testimonies of the past and to invite a dialog with the current world.
From this year’s 6 conferences, that have place in different museums around Barcelona, in the Museu Nacional we’ll discover “L’obra de Damià Forment escampada en els museus de Catalunya”, by Joan Yeguas i Gassó, Renaissance and Baroque Art curator from the museum.
In this conference we’ll go through Damià Forment’s artistic trajectory (circa 1475-1540), one of the best sculptors from La Corona de Aragón in the first half of the sixteenth century, and it’ll focus the attention to the works that he made around Catalonia between 1525 and 1537, in places like Lleida, Poblet, Montblanc, Vallbona de les Monges, Tarragona, Santes Creus, Barcelona and Montserrat, and it’ll examine the images, reliefs or sculptural fragments that have been preserved from him in different Catalan museums and private collections.
