Description:
The existence of painted exterior portals in the Romanesque period is little known. They must have been frequent, but as the painting was at the open air, most of them have disappeared. So the preservation of the wall paintings of exterior portal of the Church of Sant Joan de Boí is exceptional. Done later than the interior, there is a not very well-preserved Theophany with, in its lower part, graffiti with scenes of a military character; these are also medieval but done later than the paintings.
