Activities scheduled on the occasion of March 8th, International Women's Day.

Date range:
07/03/2025
The MNAC joins the 8M celebration, and although it does not organize activities on that day, during the months of March and April, it will roll out a full program with women artists as protagonists, which can be consulted on its website. Additionally, on 8M, all women are invited to enjoy the Museum for free, and during the first week of March, artists and some of the Museum's staff will speak on its social media to highlight the work that has been done and the work still to be done.

The Museum works every day to recover and raise the visibility of works by women artists. This is a priority that has radically changed the Museum's acquisition policy, especially regarding its contemporary art, photography, and, whenever possible, modern art collections. Thus, in 2024, the MNAC has acquired a total of 74 works by 16 women artists, 14 of whom will be represented for the first time in the collections. The MNAC also incorporates a feminist perspective into its programs through work with active artists, as it will do in the coming months with the presentation of a new space in the contemporary art galleries, *Dones per dones*, and with planned interventions by Eulàlia Valldosera, Mar Arza, and Nora Ancarola.

Scheduled activities for March and April include, among others, a conversation between the Museum's photography curator, Roser Cambray, and photojournalist Anna Turbau, in light of the incorporation of her work into the National Photography Collection, a roundtable with some of the authors who will be represented in the new *Dones per dones* gallery, and the presentation of the book-object *Dones a través del temps: relats d’una Barcelona canviant*. This project was developed as part of the MNAC's community program, *L'Obrador*, in which a group of older women from diverse backgrounds has shared their life stories in relation to works in the Museum's collections. Additionally, gender-focused tours and family activities will be held, such as the storytelling session *Petites històries, grans dones*, featuring artist Teresa Lanceta, and the workshop *Heroïnes*.
