From 13th to 15th September 2023
Entry free of charge, with compulsory registration on the website of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
Painted space, reconstructed space of medieval mural painting (4th-13th centuries)
The Museu Nacional is hosting the second edition of Incontri Mediterranei (Mediterranean Encounters), the first edition of which was held in Rome in 2019. The conference will address the cycles of medieval mural painting and wall mosaic throughout the Mediterranean, from the 4th to the 13th centuries (The Holy Land, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, France and the Iberian Peninsula). It is an ambitious international congress on medieval art born from the close collaboration between the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, the Sapienza Università di Roma and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with the aim of promoting the study and characterisation of the artistic phenomena from the medieval Mediterranean, the circulation of repertoires and artists, as well as the rich processes of exchange that distinguish them.
Scientific committee: Jordi Camps (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya), Anna Maria D’Achille (Sapienza Università di Roma) Antonio Iacobini (Sapienza Università di Roma) Marina Righetti (Sapienza Università di Roma) and Manuel Castiñeiras (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
