The evaluation committee of the public bid called in November 2022 to fill the post of Museum Administrator has proposed to the Board of Trustees to appoint Josep Desquens Farrés (Parets del Vallès, 1971). This appointment has the agreement of the Board of Trustees of the Museu Nacional and the approval of the Board of Museums of Catalonia.

A manager with extensive experience in public and private institutions, with a long international career especially in the cooperation and culture sectors, Josep Desquens has been deputy director-manager of the Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB), general director of Development Cooperation of the Generalitat de Catalunya and responsible for the Development Cooperation programmes of the European Union. Desquens has a degree and a master’s degree in business administration and management from Esade and a master’s degree in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

His incorporation will take place during the month of May.

In the bid for the provision of the administration of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, thirty candidacies were submitted, four of whom made it to the final stage. The assessment committee was made up of representatives of the three consortium administrations, as well as the president, the director and the secretary of the museum's board of trustees.
