Symposium on Arts in Health

On February 23 and 24, 2023, the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), with the collaboration of the Arts in Health International Foundation (AiHIF), have organized an international symposium. During these two days, professionals from the fields of health, arts and culture have gathered to share their knowledge, activities and interests, as well as to present their experiences on the implementation of the Arts in Health strategy in their respective organizations.
The Conference has included professionals from the field of arts and health and world leaders such as Christopher Bailey, head of the Arts in Health Initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Antonella Poce, head of the international project Inclusive Museums for well-being and health thorugh the creation of a new shared memory, will share their knowledge and experiences.

Projects I - Definition of the health objective Presentation of the project «Is the body my enemy?» Txema Romero, director of Cerdanyola Art Museum (Museu d’Art de Cerdanyola, MAC). Cristina Cabistañ, director of EAP Canaletes-Fontetes (Cerdanyola del Vallès).The MAC is a leading Art Nouveau museum, a contemporary art centre open to new creations and a socio-cultural facility accessible for the public and all audiences, especially those involved in Arts in Health projects.
Projects II - Participation, «RELAT-Hos» Project (Bellvitge University Hospital) Antonia Castro,nurse at the Bellvitge University Hospital and author and coordinator of the RELAT-Hos project. Merche Yll y David Herrera, patients who have participated in the project (narrators). The «RELAT-Hos» project invites patients admitted to Bellvitge hospitalisation units to write a story during their stay at the centre. The initiative is run by nurses and aims to take advantage of the therapeutic capacity of writing to make the time spent in hospital more pleasant.

Projects III - Co-production of interventions «The Museums and Health working group»Sònia Blasco, , head of the Museum and Heritage Assets Protection Service. Department of Culture.
«Recuperart-19», museums for the emotional wellbeing of healthcare professionals Laia Brufau, director of communication and corporate social responsibility at the Institut Català de la Salut and a member of the Expertise Assistance Programme Arts in Health (PADEICS). «Recuperart-19» is an innovative programme based in museums and art centres to improve the emotional state of healthcare professionals after the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposal came from PADEICS, a programme where professionals from various disciplines and territorial areas share their knowledge and ways of doing things to respond to the health needs that come up.

Resident artists in primary care centres Co-creation research. Artist-in-Residence Program at Primary care centers. Place-based research and cocreation. Roser Sanjuán, head of public programmes at the La Panera Art centre. The Panera Art Centre in Lleida is a platform for the production and dissemination of contemporary visual arts that is positioned at the intersection of research and creation with education and public programmes. It runs artistic projects in diverse settings such as schools, health centres and community services.
Projects IV - Evaluation «How can we evaluate Arts in Health interventions?» Anna Berenguera, coordinator and researcher in the Transversal Research Unit at The Foundation University Institute for Primary Health Care Research Jordi Gol i Gurina (IDIAPJGol). IDIAPJGol is a leading centre in research and promotion of health at the first level of care that aims to promote and develop innovation, clinical research, epidemiology and health services in the field of primary care.
Projects V - Communication Academic paper presentation: «Women of cultural diversity and complex PTSD: group intervention with the STAIR model» Guila Fidel Kinori, specialist in clinical psychology and assistant in the Psychiatry Service at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (HUVH). A Pilot Study adapting the STAIR modular program to women of cultural diversity, and apply it in a group format in two different settings: at the HUVH and at MNAC.
The «Art Gran» project Rosa Puigpinós, Public Health Agency of Catalonia. Teresa González, Accessibility and Inclusion at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). The «Art Gran» project, a pilot research and intervention project focusing on elderly people and loneliness.
The «Opening doors» project Anna Saló, Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Service at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (HUVH). Norma Vélez, Activities and Education at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). An Arts in Health research and intervention project at the National Art Museum of Catalonia focusing on teenagers with cancer who have been diagnosed and treated at the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Service of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.
