The Dancing Museum (3rd Edition)
The Dancing Museum (3rd Edition)

Place:
Sala Oval
Description:
The Museum Grows. And It Does So by Dancing!
The Dancing Museum is an educational project launched in 2023 through the collaboration of two neighboring institutions: the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the Conservatori Professional de Dansa (CPD) – Institut del Teatre. This creative work, which brings together education, visual arts, and performing arts, is part of the CPD’s Tallers Lliures (Free Workshops), a space for artistic practice and creation promoted by the students themselves.
In this third edition, 5th- and 6th-year CPD students have brought to life some of the museum’s new acquisitions, particularly works from the Second Avant-Garde and contemporary art. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, they have created a collective tribute to women artists represented in the collections or recently recovered, offering a fresh, youthful, and activist perspective that transcends time and reinterprets the works from the present.
Looking toward 2029, the MNAC is expanding, evolving into an increasingly polyphonic and collaborative museum that grows and transforms, forges alliances with educational communities, embraces multiple narratives, and engages with new generations.
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 4:30 PM, as part of a day dedicated to reflecting on the New MNAC through the arts and critical thought, audiences can experience the outcome of this creative process in a major presentation at the Oval Room.
Within the framework of The Dancing Museum, on Saturday, March 7, at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, there will also be “The Museum Dances in the Feminine” guided dance visits, which include explanations of selected artworks and live activation of choreographies in front of them.
The project aims to strengthen MNAC’s role as a reference museum for working with educational communities in Catalonia and the CPD of the Institut del Teatre as a leading center for performing arts education at the national and European level.
Organized by: Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the Conservatori Professional de Dansa (CPD) – Institut del Teatre
