Would you die for an ideal?.

Two 1:1 scale replicas of two Soviet planes that fought in the Civil War land in the Oval Room. Francesc Torres explores the impact of death coming from the sky and reflects on the ideas of the sacrifice of dying for an ideal. and reflects on the ideas of the sacrifice of dying for an ideal, based on the work The Crucifixion of Saint Peter, by Pere Serra, from the Museum’s Gothic Art collection. With this installation, the artist once again blurs the boundaries between art and non-art. In his own words: “A plane that doesn’t fly is a work of art”.

The Sènia airfield played a very important role due to its strategic location and its operational capacity, first by the Republican Air Force and then by the German Condor Legion.

The origin of Aeronáutica (interior flight) was his visit to the historic La Sènia Airfield, built by the Government of the Second Republic just after the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
