A book that accompanies the major exhibition opening on 20th June in Barcelona, dedicated to one of the most important exponents of contemporary art: Antoni Tàpies, who passed away last year. Organized jointly by the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya and the Fundació Antoni Tàpies and curated by Vicente Todolí, it presents a selection of over a hundred works, dating from 1945 to 2011, most of them from Antoni Tàpies personal collection, complemented by works belonging to the collection of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies.
A book and exhibition that reveal the artist's indefatigable and even obsessive experimentation, and the development of his own iconography, his vocabulary composed of signs, materials, colours and everyday objects. For his first foray into the work of Antoni Tàpies, Vicente Todolí pays particular attention to the artist's adherence to the avant-garde's tireless and restless break with tradition, an adherence that goes beyond museums and the history of art.
